Dr. T.S. Sridhar, MD, PhD

Professor, Department of Molecular Medicine, St. John’s Research

 Institute, Bangalore

Dr. Sridhar obtained his MBBS degree from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, India and

PhD (Molecular Biology) from the centre for cellular and molecular biology (CCMB). He

obtained his clinical residency in Neurology from the Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Washington

University school of medicine, St. Louis, USA and postdoctoral training (Basic research) in

auditory physiology from Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. He was involved in clinical

diagnostics and biomedical research in a pharmaceutical industry. His research interest

mainly includes molecular pathway analysis in breast cancer using human biopsy samples.

Dr. Sridhar visited the clinical neuroscience department on Dec 18, 2015 and

interacted with the PhD students of the department. He shared his academic experiences

during the doctoral and postdoctoral training. The students were immensely benefited

from this meeting since Dr. Sridhar was able to connect with the students and understand

their psyche, their career concerns and future directions. Dr. Sridhar also asked the students

to embrace this new field with enthusiasm and use their clinical background along with

basic research training to find for themselves, specific research areas, laboratories and

institutes for post-PhD studies. Since the options are unlimited, the students could adapt

themselves to any kind of research career in the future.
